In honor of Edward Abbey’s birthday. Here are some Abbey-esque thoughts from today’s ride.
This is my favorite gravel road. Well it use to be until they started drilling a new oil well. This once solitary country road is now thriving with industry. Big trucks, little trucks, useless trucks, and truck trucks. Thank God for progress.

Nothing but private land and cows as far as the eye can see. Texas is the second largest state, but they rank 45th in percentage of public land. Spoiler alert: it’s less than 5% private land.
