Adventure is where you
I realized that Feleena hasn’t adorned my feed in a while. This should make up for it. The wind was so strong today it held her up perfectly so I could snap a photo. Magic.
My @salsacycles Pony Rustler felt right at home in @bigbendranchsp leaning against an old fence framed by cactus. 📸 @jerodfoster ⬅️check out his profile💯
Episode 7 is out now! Go get you some. This episode is a long time coming for me. When I found out I live 18 miles south of a little Texas town that is on the Southern Tier Route I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to host a fellow cyclist. That opportunity came this past week when I picked up @chriss1974 and brought him to my house. For me this was a fun opportunity, but a little outside of my comfort zone. I was bringing a stranger to my home where my wife and daughter were. I’m sure Chris had his own reservations as well. However, I can tell you that any reservations or apprehensions I felt quickly subsided when I met Chris. When I pulled into the gas station to pick him up he was wearing a Thrasher hat, cut off Dickies, and a huge ass smile. The kind of smile you make when you’ve been riding your bike across America and a new friend shows up to feed you some good food and give you a place to stay for the night. It wasn’t difficult to find our stride as fellow cyclist and adventure seekers. Chris I wish you the best on your journey. It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope our bike paths will one day cross again.
We rented a #airbnb for our wedding anniversary, but elected to sleep in the hammocks between two pecan trees. You gotta love a woman that would rather sleep outside than in a comfy cabin♥️
Anna Claire, or AC, and I met on my recent trip to @bigbendranchsp with @jerodfoster and his adventure media class. She rolled up in a green 2011 Subaru Outback shortly after I arrived in my wife’s brown 2011 Subaru Outback. If that’s not a sign I don’t know what is! AC is reserved and confident; I was curious. On day one of the trip we got to chat a little, which was all I needed to know that she had a lot going on and I wanted to have a conversation with her. On the morning of day two I had my chance. We had both finished filtering water for the day and were resting in a dry arroyo under the shade. I took the opportunity to recorder a conversation that I intended to be a segment of a future episode, but this was so good I felt like it deserved to be released on its own. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I love this picture. This is on day 5 of our trip to @bigbendranchsp and you can see the terrain we’d been bikepacking in the background. I’m climbing my way out of the dessert and towards civilization, food, and beer (zoom in to see my determination)! It’s funny how you crave those things after you’ve sought so hard to be away from them. Life really is a balancing act. 📸 @jerodfoster
