East Texas Showdown

When: March 22nd – 24th
Where: East Texas
Distance: 165, 280, or 400 miles
What: Texas has a shortage of Public Lands, but the ETS takes advantage of two large swatches of public lands, the Sam Houston NF and Davy Crocket NF. This area is known for its Loblolly Pine Trees and often referred to as the “Texas Pine Curtain”. The route was created with the goal of taking riders to the most remote parts of East Texas on the most obscure and forgotten roads we could find, while avoiding major city centers, opting instead for rural towns and communities off the beaten path. We want even the locals to be wondering “what the heck are ya doing way out here?”

Cost: $120
Limit: 250

AZT 300/800 group start itt

When: April 11th @ 7:00am
Where: Arizona Trail
Distance: 300 or 800 miles
Pace: Any
What: Patrick Farnsworth, host of the Bikes or Death Podcast, is doing an ITT of the AZT 300 and you’re invited to join!

This is not an organized or sanctioned event in any way. It’s simply a group of friends out to ride their bikes on the same route at the same time. We’ll probably compare times afterwards, but more importantly, we’ll compare experiences — the highs and lows the trail and mountains offered us.

A mass group start, outside of the official-unofficial group start, has never been done before. Come ride the route, make history, and memories with us!

** For transparency this ride was approved by the current AZT Race Direct, John Shillings

More info: AZT Official Website – This ride will follow the rules of the official group start. Please familiarize yourself with them before registering.

Bikepacking basics clinic & overnighter

When: April 26th – 28th
Where: East Texas
Distance: 32 or 43 miles
Pace: ProSlow
What: Join us for the 2nd Annual Bikepacking Basics Clinic & Overnighter!

We are taking the guess work out of bikepacking and helping you get on your bike and into the outdoors.

This event will take place on a new route developed by Patrick Farnsworth of Bikes or Death.  We will be exploring parts of the East Texas Showdown route that has quickly become a premier bikepacking event. This route has been designed with the beginner bikepacker in mind and there are two route options so you can pick your distance!

This year the format will be a little different. Instead of two days we are breaking it up into three. The first day will be educational and clinics from the BoD Staff. On Saturday morning we will all roll out on our bikecamping trip. At camp we will have a campfire discussion about Bikepacking Basics and everyones first day experience. Sunday morning, we pack up, and ride our damn bikes back to our cars.

Cost: $120
Limit: 50
