Ep. 94 – Cjell Monē

For day 3 of Monumental Loop Week, we are featuring a podcast with Cjell Monē, owner of Monē Bikes based out of Silver City, NM. He is know for producing functional steel bikes with an aesthetic flare out of the back of a 1990 Wonderbread Truck (Seriously!). Words won’t do his bikes justice, so let’s take a look at a few of my favorites captured by John Watson over at The Radavist.

#1. A personal favorite of mine is Bailey Newbrey’s La Roca.

I saw this bike in person when I interviewed Bailey for the podcast. John Watson does a great job of capturing this bike with a full gallery of images on The Radavist.

#2. This heavily customized Klunker with Copper Brake lines is all you need to know about Cjell Monē. The dude can flat out build a radically beautiful bike.

#3. Cjell Monē’s personal bike that he took on this years Dangerbird.

I got to see this one in person, it’s got more personality than Dolly Parton and more grit that Dog the Bounty Hunter, John Watson shared a gallery of images that are worth checking out!

The day after Cjell and I recorded this podcast I got a chance to get to know him better. After I was done taking photos of the event, I met up with him and a solid group of riders in Hatch for a Green Chile Burger, that was so good that I ate it before a picture could be taken. We then road to camp and shared stories and laughs under an enchanted NM sunset and night sky. I really enjoyed getting to hang out with him and have him on the show, he’s another example of how rich the bikepacking community is. Listen to our conversation below, or wherever you pod.

I enjoyed the convo and the hangs, hope to see ya again soon Cjell ✌️
